Balsam Lake is the highest point of the Trent–Severn Waterway, making it the country’s highest body of fresh water from which one can circumnavigate the world by boat. It’s 16 kms long and 3 kms wide and about 15 metres at its deepest. Balsam Lake Provincial Park and Indian Point Provincial Park are located on the north shore. Balsam Lake offers lots of sandy shoreline along with rocky stretches. You can cast for the usual game fish on Balsam Lake, with abundant walleye, pike, muskie and bass. Beautiful wildlife abounds with hawks, owls, eagles, and waterfowl including trilling loons, along with many other animal species. All this within an hour and a half drive from most areas of the Greater Toronto Area.
